The Rich Man And The Beggar

I admit that I do not get into the NT too much. You know how I just am in Love with the OT. But I ran across this verse and when I read it. It shows that
a rich man. (One with money and power and standing in the community) when he died he went to hell. And the poor man (Lazarus) went to hell also, but
went into Abraham’s Bosom. Which is in hell, but was a pleasent place.
What lesson do you learn from these verses? Which is the reading of Luke 16: 19-31.
19  There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

  1. I see here a very deep truth, which is not apparent at the first level of the reading.the RICH MAN, is always referring to Adam, and in our day, the false CHURCH.I WROTE a very good message called, the rich man.those crumbs from the table, is the songs and holiday junk this ‘rich’ man ‘feeds’ to his servants, the lost sheep, thinking they are with a shepherd.the rich man, (adam/false church/ law group),  says, I have five brethren….this is the five foolish virgins, who cling to law, and know not grace or NT salvation. He said if they will not ‘hear’ the law and prophets, they will not hear   A MAN RISING FROM THE DEAD, EITHER.See, they had clung to the law system, which God hates, so it blinded them, and so when Jesus rose from the dead, THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE OR HEAR HIM.see, this is why they are foolish virgins  = have no truth or NT salvation.the beggar was the wise virgins, who finally got free of this rich man’s ‘crumbs’ or the silly music, songs, and holidays, which did nothing for their hungry SOULS.Hope this blesses you.

  2. IDECLARE, I tried to copy my answer and deleted it.   so aggravating. well here goes again:”as I was re-reading the above passage, I saw this:   rich man;  clothed in PURPLE AND FINE LINEN.   read my message on mother of harlots.   same description.Yes, this is it.   same one  = false religion,  all of them.this is the harlot, rich man, false church, OT law system, all rolled up into one big evil ANTI-CHRIST.they feed the hungry souls  CRUMBS.   = foolish stuff which has no life in it  = singing;  music, parties, holidays, and such.beggar, is those who truly wanted to find God, but were starved by the rich man.Abraham’s bosom is the resting place, that the beggar finally finds. …after he DIES TO SELF, OR MAMA HARLOT.   and gets out of you see this great message, hidden among these FEW WORDS?   the word of God is wonderful when one knows enough to SEE THE DEEP.

  3. +Tweety, this is speaking of JESUS WHEN HE COMES TO EARTH;Deuteronomy 33 King James Version (KJV)33 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.2 And he said, The Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.3 Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.see, we sit at the ‘feet’ or TEACHING of Jesus and receive his words.

  4. same chapter;  let me show you this;  see what you think of it:4 Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.5 And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.6 Let Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few.Let Reuben LIVE AND NOT DIE.   many men;  not a few;   what do you see here?  It think it proves what I was seeing.
